NORWEGIANS GET FIT WITH GLOBAL PHENOMENON ZUMBA® FITNESS
The Largest Dance-Fitness Program in the World Brings the Fitness-Party to the Norwegian fleet
MIAMI – January 23, 2013 – Vacationers who wish to get in shape while still having a blast this year are in for a treat, as Norwegian Cruise Line will introduce the popular international-inspired dance-fitness program Zumba Fitness to its ships beginning this spring. Norwegian will offer a variety of energetic Zumba® classes on every cruise, led by licensed Zumba® instructors who are part of the Zumba Instructor Network (ZIN™).
Encouraging guests to “ditch the workout and join the party,” the Zumba program is contagious, combining high-energy dance music including hip-hop, salsa, African beats and Reggaton with fun, global-inspired dance moves to create an irresistible calorie-burning bash.
“We are excited to bring Zumba Fitness onboard our ships and offer guests not just a new way to work out, but an exhilarating and easy-to-follow dance fitness-party,” said Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian Cruise Line CEO.
With 14 million followers across the globe in more than 150 countries, Zumba is an international movement, turning the dreaded “work out” into a fun-filled celebration known as “exercise in disguise,” where participants can burn up to 1,000 calories. Norwegian Cruise Line will offer a selection of the most popular Zumba classes at no charge, beginning this spring in a phased roll out to its ships.

NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINE COUNTS DOWN “100 DAYS TO NORWEGIAN BREAKAWAY”
Announces Inaugural Preview Events in Europe and New York
MIAMI – January 22, 2013 – In anticipation of the upcoming launch of Norwegian Breakaway, one of 2013’s hottest new ships, Norwegian Cruise Line is counting down the days until the arrival of the vessel and has launched a global social media campaign featuring the “100 Days to Norwegian Breakaway” countdown on its social properties – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. Each day, users can share in the excitement of the countdown and enjoy a fun fact about the ship, destination, or of her year-round homeport of New York City. In addition, the company officially announced Norwegian Breakaway’s exclusive inaugural preview events in Europe and New York for travel partners.
Norwegian Breakaway, also known as “New York’s Ship” for its New York inspired amenities and features, will arrive in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, on April 26 for the start of her European inaugural events and be showcased to Continental European travel partners on a two day cruise. On April 29, travel partners in the UK will be invited onboard for a one-night preview.
The ship will depart Southampton on April 30 and embark on her maiden voyage, a seven-day transatlantic crossing to New York City. Vacationers looking to set sail on a once-in-a-lifetime cruise and to be the first to experience the ship first-hand, can still book a stateroom on the transatlantic sailing.
The inaugural events will culminate with the ship’s spectacular christening in New York City – Norwegian Breakaway’s year-round homeport – on May 8 followed by a two-night exclusive inaugural cruise. One of New York’s most illustrious and beloved icons, The Rockettes, are set to serve as the ship’s Godmothers. During a second preview sailing over Mother’s Day weekend, May 10 through 12, the ship will host New York-area mothers affected by Hurricane Sandy as part of the line’s participation in the special holiday giveaway episode of Katie Couric’s talk show, Katie.
Norwegian Breakaway will begin her weekly summer seven-day cruises to Bermuda on Sunday, May 12 with a special guest onboard, the line’s Chief Executive Officer Kevin Sheehan. As part of their role as Godmothers, two Rockettes will sail aboard the first six sailings of Norwegian Breakaway, beginning May 12, and the first sailing of each month thereafter, taking part in special events for guests to enjoy. Beginning in October, New York’s ship will offer voyages from the heart of Manhattan to the Bahamas & Florida and the Southern Caribbean.
Norwegian Breakaway
Designed as New York’s ship, Norwegian Breakaway will bring the best of NYC to sea when she arrives to her year-round homeport in early May 2013, offering the high-caliber dining and entertainment options that New York is known for worldwide. To date, the company has revealed the ship’s groundbreaking design, including an open-air boardwalk, The Waterfront, and 678 Ocean Place; a wide range of indoor and outdoor venues on three dynamic decks that will create a whole new complex at sea that enhances guests’ connection with the ocean. Norwegian Breakaway’s entertainment will include three Broadway shows: five-time Tony nominated ROCK OF AGES; the dance sensation BURN THE FLOOR; and CIRQUE DREAMS & DINNER JUNGLE FANTASY. The famed comedy troupe The Second City, Howl at the Moon dueling pianos, and New York’s own Slam Allen will perform on the vessel. Norwegian Breakaway will also feature an exciting fireworks show on every cruise that will dazzle guests on the second to last night at sea each week, and will be the grand finale of a decadent 1980s-themed deck party.
Celebrity Chef and Food Network star Geoffrey Zakarian will also debut his first restaurant at sea on Norwegian Breakaway: Ocean Blue by Geoffrey Zakarian. Master Baker Buddy Valastro, star of the popular TLC television series “Cake Boss” and “Next Great Baker,” will open an extension of his family business, Carlo’s Bake Shop, onboard. The ship will feature a total of 28 dining options on board and an Ice Bar, which will be kept at 17 degrees Fahrenheit and feature New York City-inspired specialty cocktails, as well as ice sculptures of the Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty and the Chrysler Building to pay homage to New York City
The top decks of Norwegian Breakaway will feature the first Aqua Park at sea with five full-size water slides, including twin Free Fall slides, the first ever at sea, and a three-story sports complex that includes the largest ropes course at sea, a nine-hole miniature golf course, basketball court, rock climbing wall and more.
The ship will also feature a rich mix of stateroom options including The Haven by Norwegian, comprised of 42 Suites at the top of the ship and 18 additional Suites located throughout the ship; the innovative Studios, designed and priced for solo travelers; the re-introduction of Oceanview staterooms, Balcony and Mini-Suites; along with Spa Balcony, Mini- Suites and Suites in close proximity to the spa.

About Buddy
Buddy Valastro is an accomplished fourth generation baker born into the business owned and operated by his parents since 1910. He grew up in Hoboken, New Jersey in an old-fashioned Italian family. He showed a flair for cake decorating at an early age.
For Valastro, 35, mixing eggs, sugar, butter and flour means a lot more than “making a cake.” As a fourth generation baker, it’s a constant source of pleasure, pride and creativity. Creating amazing cakes connects Buddy with the memory of his father Buddy Sr. and his extended Italian family history. His talent and passion for the family business, Carlo’s Bakery, has earned the straight-talking cake expert the moniker, and TLC TV show, Cake Boss.
In December 2010, TLC premiered the spin-off series, Cake Boss: Next Great Baker, now in its third season, where Buddy challenged bakers from around the country to compete for a chance to work alongside the Valastro family at Carlo’s. Proven he’s a master when it comes to sweets, in Buddy’s third TLC show, Kitchen Boss, he welcomes viewers into his kitchen to demonstrate he’s just as skilled at savory items, preparing his family favorite Italian recipes.

NEW YORK CITY-INSPIRED ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN PROMOTES NEW YORK’S SHIP NORWEGIAN BREAKAWAY
NEW YORK CITY-INSPIRED ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN PROMOTES NEW YORK’S SHIP NORWEGIAN BREAKAWAY
Norwegian Cruise Line is also partnering with NYC & Company as an Official Partner of NYC Restaurant Week® and Broadway Week
NEW YORK – January 7, 2013 – Norwegian Cruise Line today debuts a New York City-inspired advertising campaign themed, “The Best of NYC Sails to Sea” to promote its new ship, Norwegian Breakaway which will be the largest cruise ship to homeport year-round in New York City. The new campaign includes an eye-catching, state-of-the-art digitally animated television commercial, print advertisements, various out of home elements, online media and new digital experiences on the Breakaway microsite that artfully render the New York City experiences found on board.
The Norwegian Breakaway television spot shows striking visuals of the Manhattan skyline cruising by the Statue of Liberty and out to sea atop Norwegian Breakaway, visually conveying that the best of NYC will sail to sea on Norwegian Breakaway. The new television spot will air on various networks throughout the winter and spring in New York, Boston and Philadelphia and can be viewed on the line’s YouTube channel. There is also a Spanish version of the television spot that will air on Telemundo and Univision in the New York market. In addition, Norwegian has enhanced www.breakaway.ncl.com with new digital experiences that highlight the New York City experiences found on board and demonstrate how Norwegian Breakaway brings the best of NYC to sea. Site visitors can watch as a theater on Broadway is transformed into the Breakaway Theater and as New York’s popular SOHO Neighborhood transitions into The Waterfront on board Norwegian Breakaway. Additional transformations will be launched later in January including Central Park being morphed into the ship’s Aqua Park.
“It’s so exciting to be launching this dynamic advertising campaign promoting our new ship, Norwegian Breakaway, during the start of Wave Season, the best time to book a cruise,” said Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian Cruise Line’s chief executive officer. “Our goal with the campaign is to show the ship’s strong connection to New York City in a visually striking way that will inspire everyone to want to come aboard and experience all that Norwegian Breakaway has to offer beginning May 12.”
Designed as New York’s ship, Norwegian Breakaway will bring the best of NYC to sea when she arrives to her year-round homeport in early May 2013, offering the high-caliber dining and entertainment options that New York is known for worldwide. The line also announced that it is an official partner of the popular NYC & Company programs: NYC Restaurant Week and Broadway Week, further strengthening Norwegian Breakaway’s strong ties to New York City. To generate additional awareness and buzz throughout the city, Norwegian, in partnership with NYC & Company, is creating four interactive “Breakaway Warming Stations” that will pop-up in different locations throughout the city in January.
As part of the partnership, Norwegian is prominently featured in the NYC Restaurant Week and Winter Broadway Week promotional booklets, on nycgo.com, and in advertising, including bus shelters and on light pole banners throughout the city. In addition, on select dates in January, New York City residents and visitors are invited to visit one of Norwegian Breakaway’s “Warming Stations,” where they have the opportunity to get a “break” from the cold weather and a hint of the warm weather and sunshine the ship will offer guests when she sails from New York year-round to Bermuda, Bahamas & Florida and the Caribbean. Guests can learn about the ship’s exciting amenities or take a photo amongst a beach-themed setting, which can be uploaded and shared on Facebook right from the station. Photos from the Warming Station events can also be viewed on the line’s Facebook page. To add to the excitement, visitors can also win special prizes hourly, including tickets to see the Broadway smash-hit Rock of Ages, or dinner at Geoffrey Zakarian’s restaurant, The National.
The Norwegian Breakaway Warming Stations will take place between 9 am and 4 pm on the following dates:
• January 14: Flatiron Plaza;
• January 22: Ninth Ave. & 14th Street in Chelsea Plaza;
• January 28: Times Square on Military Island.
For location updates and the chance to win additional prizes, everyone is encouraged to follow Norwegian on Twitter at @cruisenorwegian.
To celebrate the company’s involvement in NYC Restaurant Week and Broadway Week, Norwegian is giving foodies and entertainment lovers the opportunity to win one of two cruises for two on the May 12, 2013 maiden voyage of Norwegian Breakaway as part of the “Best of NYC Sails to Sea Sweepstakes.” The lucky winners will also receive a one night hotel stay in Manhattan, two tickets to a Broadway show and dinner at Geoffrey Zakarian’s restaurant The National the night before departure. To learn more and enter to win, stop by one of Norwegian’s “Warming Stations” or visit either nycgo.com/restaurantweek or nycgo.com/broadwayweek.
The Breakaway advertising campaign, slated to run through May, is a continuation of the Cruise Like A Norwegian concept, developed by Norwegian Cruise Line and The Martin Agency in 2011.

• January 14: Flatiron Plaza;
• January 22: Ninth Ave. & 14th Street in Chelsea Plaza;

MIAMI ARTIST DAVID “LEBO” LE BATARD UNVEILS HIS DESIGN FOR NORWEGIAN GETAWAY’S HULL ARTWORK
MIAMI ARTIST DAVID “LEBO” LE BATARD UNVEILS HIS DESIGN FOR NORWEGIAN GETAWAY’S HULL ARTWORK
MIAMI – December 3, 2012 – Norwegian Cruise Line announced today that popular Miami modern artist and muralist David “LEBO” Le Batard has been commissioned to paint the signature hull artwork for Norwegian Getaway, launching in January 2014. At an event held at LEBO’s Wynwood studio, the company also revealed the hull artwork, which features a whimsical tropical ocean theme complete with a mermaid holding the sun, pelicans and palm trees, befitting the ship’s year-round home port of Miami.
“Norwegian Getaway will be Miami’s ship and, therefore, we wanted to ensure that her hull was designed by an artist with strong ties to Miami and the Latin community,” said Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian Cruise Line’s chief executive officer. “Having begun his career in South Florida, Dave is an artist that is entrenched here. His work adorns the city and I’ve learned that he is also a genuinely nice guy. He is a shining star in Miami, as well as the global art community.”
Born in New York City in 1972 to Cuban émigré parents, LEBO was raised in South Florida and was heavily influenced by Miami’s Cuban art scene.
“Having grown up in South Florida, the ocean has been an immense presence in my life and has been infused into my work as an artist,” said David “LEBO” Le Batard. “When I was asked to design the artwork for Norwegian Getaway, I saw an opportunity to create a prominent image, one that would surely help define the Miami seascape and illustrate the world-class experience that Norwegian Cruise Line has come to stand for. It is truly an honor to have been offered this canvas, as it gives the world an opportunity to see my work in a way few artists ever get to see in their entire lives.”
According to LEBO, Norwegian Getaway’s hull art design is centered on a mythical mermaid, an iconic image that represents humanity’s connection to the sea, and features her seemingly skimming across the surface of the water. Surrounding the mermaid is a fusion of sea and sky dancing across the ship, where three pelicans gracefully glide along in the artist’s version of a tropical paradise.
“LEBO’s incredible design reflects all of the elements that Miami is known for – sea, sun and paradise,” said Sheehan. “This artwork will surely make Norwegian Getaway an iconic part of the Miami skyline when she arrives as Miami’s largest year-round ship in 2014.”
With paintings on exhibition in museums and galleries worldwide including Detroit, Los Angeles, New Orleans, New York, Toronto, South Africa, Germany and Italy, LEBO is one of Miami’s most beloved and predominant Modern artists. His murals and site-specific installations have energized communities such as Miami’s Calle Ocho, Uptown New Orleans and downtown San Francisco. Inspired by his work on Norwegian Getaway, LEBO will be revealing his latest series of paintings, entitled “Where our souls meet the sea,” during Art Basel week in Miami.
Widely recognized for his work in a wide spectrum of creative mediums including murals, paintings and sculptures, LEBO (www.lebostudios.com) is known as the innovator of Post-modern Cartoon Expressionism, a movement that combines cartoon imagery with bold color and unique linear composition. The resulting art ranges from abstract to highly narrative, creating an artistic movement prized among naturalists and architects. LEBO’s formal arts training began at Florida International University in Miami and further developed during his residency at the International Museum of Cartoon Art in Boca Raton, Florida.
His work with such renowned companies as Gibson Guitars, Ferrari and Harley Davidson, as well as Latin pop singer Gloria Estefan, whose newest album cover features his design, has cemented his status as one of the preeminent modern artists of his generation.
Currently being built at Meyer Werft in Germany, Norwegian Getaway will be 146,600 gross tons and offer a wide range of accommodations. The ship represents an opportunity for the Norwegian guest to “get away” from the routine of work, school, and daily stress, and find a true respite at sea that reflects the energy and culture that Miami is known for worldwide.
The ship will also feature a rich mix of stateroom options, including The Haven by Norwegian, comprised of 42 Suites at the top of the ship in an exclusive, private key-card enclave and 22 additional Suites located throughout the ship; the innovative Studios, designed and priced for solo travelers; a wide range of Oceanview staterooms, Balcony and Mini-Suites; along with Spa Balcony, Mini-Suites and Suites in close proximity to the spa. Norwegian Getaway’s sister ship, Norwegian Breakaway, will begin sailing from her year-round home port of New York City in May 2013.
Norwegian Getaway will sail seven-day cruises from Miami to the Eastern Caribbean beginning on February 1, 2014, with ports of call including Philipsburg, St. Maarten; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; and Nassau, Bahamas.
